These photograms are made from silk fibres and bone fragments that are laid directly on to photographic paper and exposed to light. The image describes the transparency of the silk and bone and the light in the pictures shows that which resisted the light the most. This intriguing reversal suggests the connection made between spirit, light and dark. Silk is a mysterious fibre and there is something inherently secretive about bones. Photographers have grasped at dreams of rendering spirit visible. Photography plays with light and time and we can but imagine the truth of what we are seeing.
